Renting in the green season: what changes

The green season runs roughly May to October. Rain comes in heavy bursts rather than all day, and between them the island is quiet, green and noticeably cheaper.

Roads get slick fast when the rain starts, especially the first few minutes as oil lifts off the tarmac. Ease off, leave more room, and avoid painted lines and metal covers.

If you are not confident on a wet scooter, this is the season to take a car. Visibility drops and the standing water on some roads is deeper than it looks.

Check the forecast for the afternoon before committing to a long ride. Mornings are usually the driest part of the day.
